Today in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) “St. Petersburg” at the Novoorlovskaya site a “time capsule” was laid in the foundation of the future production building of Elektroapparat plant.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, Governor Alexander Beglov, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Osmakov, General Director of JSC VO Electroapparat Vladimir Bukhin and General Director of JSC Special Economic Zone “St. Petersburg” Tamara Rondaleva.
As Alexander Beglov noted, in accordance with the instruction of the President of Russia, the city continues to actively build up its production potential.
“The history of Elektroapparat is the history of the development of electrical engineering in Russia. For more than a hundred years the plant has been a pioneer in the energy industry of the country. In a number of areas it is the first or the only one. The new production facility will become another modern and high-tech enterprise of St. Petersburg. It is especially important for us that it is environmentally friendly and will also provide the city with hundreds of new jobs,” the Governor emphasized.
The plant is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. It will produce a wide range of high-voltage equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgears and other devices. The demand for these products is consistently high. Today more than a thousand substations in Russia and CIS countries are equipped with Elektroapparat equipment. Investments in the project will amount to more than 2.2 billion rubles.
According to Alexander Novak, the products of the new production will be in great demand in metallurgy, oil refining industry, oil and gas and construction complexes of the country.
Deputy Prime Minister reminded about the goals for economic development outlined by the President of Russia. In particular, the task has been set for the next 6 years - to increase investment by 70% by 2030, to have an economic growth rate above the world average and to be the fourth largest economy in the world.

“Undoubtedly, such ambitious tasks cannot be achieved without our regions. St. Petersburg is actively developing today, and thanks to the painstaking work of the St. Petersburg Government team, we see economic growth rates higher than the Russian average,” emphasized Alexander Novak.
He spoke about the formation of a national project to develop technological sovereignty in the energy sector, which involves the production of modern equipment and devices.
“The launch of the new project of Elektroapparat company fully corresponds to the tasks set by the President,” added the Deputy Prime Minister.
Alexander Beglov expressed confidence that the future of Russia lies behind such enterprises as Elektroapparat. And with the laying down of the new production facility another serious step has been made towards achieving technological sovereignty and leadership. A Special Economic Zone has been created in St. Petersburg for such enterprises. More than 70 companies are already working in it, and today the SEZ “St. Petersburg” is among the five most effective in Russia.
“The most advanced technologies, the most important industries for the country are developed and implemented here. Almost eight thousand jobs have been created. Last year our Special Economic Zone doubled in size. We added the Parnas and Shushary sites. We are working on the opening of the fifth site near the metro station “Ulitsa Dybenko””, - informed Alexander Beglov.
He noted that industry brings the city the most income.
“But we are not stopping. The start of construction of a new plant is proof that the coming years the industrial capital of Russia - St. Petersburg will continue to grow. We plan to open 20 more enterprises and create more than 50 thousand jobs. This will be the main message to future generations who will continue to build and develop a modern metropolis of the 21st century as a cultural, tourist and industrial capital of Russia”, - said Alexander Beglov.
JSC VO Elektroapparat is the first enterprise in Russia that mastered the production of high-voltage gas-insulated apparatus. It is the only plant in the country that produces equipment for voltage class up to 750 kV. The enterprise has its own design, production and testing facilities.
Thanks to the implementation of innovative solutions, the plant manufactures products for all types of power systems. It manufactures spare parts and performs a full cycle of all electrical works. Its customers include Rosseti, Russian Railways, Interrao, territorial generating companies, Rusgidro, Gazprom, Novatek, Rosneft, Lukoil, Tatneft, Solikamskbumprom, NLMK, Mosenergo, enterprises of Rosatom Concern, industry and agricultural sector.
