Alexander Beglov: St. Petersburg will allocate to the development of SEZ 2.1 billion rubles received under the mechanism of reimbursement of costs for its infrastructure this year
This year St. Petersburg received 2.1 billion rubles from the federal budget under the mechanism of reimbursement of expenses for the development of the special economic zone. This is more than six times higher than the refund amount of the previous year.
“St. Petersburg was one of the first subjects of the Russian Federation to use the support mechanism for reimbursement of infrastructure costs of special economic zones. Advanced industry and entrepreneurship development are among the ten priorities of the Northern Capital's development in the coming years. The use of this mechanism contributes to the achievement of these goals. We will use the funds received for further development of SEZ sites,” emphasized Governor Alexander Beglov.
The order on approval of the list of projects on creation, modernization and reconstruction of SEZ infrastructure objects, which included, among others, St. Petersburg, was signed by the Government of the Russian Federation in 2022.
The total amount transferred to the budget of the region from the federal budget according to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation is about 2.4 billion rubles for two years. This is the entire amount that is currently available for reimbursement to the region.
In December 2023 the area of the SEZ territory was doubled due to the addition of two new sites - “Parnas” and “Shushary”. At the moment active work is underway to design engineering and other infrastructure at the “Parnas” site. In 2025 it is planned to start designing infrastructure on the site “Shushary”. The city is working on another site - “Dybenko” - to join the SEZ.
